Written by Sam Russell

The Acorns return to the 4ED Hartpury Stadium this Friday, 3rd April, as we welcome Bideford A.F.C. in the Southern League Division One South.

With the season entering a crucial stage, Hartpury will be aiming to build momentum and deliver another strong performance in front of the home crowd.

Ahead of the Robins’ trip to the 4ED Stadium, here is everything you need to know about the visitors.

THE OPPOSITION – BIDEFORD AFC

STADIUM – The Sports Ground

NICKNAME – The Robins

FOUNDED – 1947

MANAGER – Sean Joyce

LEAGUE POSITION – 15th

LEAGUE – Southern League Division One South

LAST FIVE - L – L – W – D – W

LAST TIME OUT

The two sides met earlier in the season in December, when Hartpury travelled to face Bideford at The Sports Ground.

On that occasion, the hosts took the lead in the first half, but the Acorns showed resilience to respond after the break. Louis Manning equalised before an own goal completed the turnaround, sealing a 2–1 victory for Hartpury.

The Acorns will be aiming to produce a similar performance on Friday night as they look to complete the double over the Robins.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE?

It’s been a competitive campaign so far for Bideford, who currently sit 15th in the Southern League Division One South.

Recent results have shown a mix of resilience and inconsistency. The Robins secured an impressive 3–1 victory over Willand Rovers, followed by another strong attacking display in a 3–2 win against Bashley.

However, they have also experienced setbacks, most notably a heavy 6–1 defeat to Winchester City, highlighting the varied nature of their recent form.

Under Sean Joyce, Bideford have shown resilience throughout the season and will arrive at Hartpury organised and ready to compete.

PLAYER TO WATCH - RYAN TURNER

Turner comes into this fixture in strong form, having scored a brace in Bideford’s recent victory over Willand Rovers.

A key attacking threat, his ability to find space and finish chances will be something Hartpury will need to manage carefully.
