The Acorns will bring March to a close on Saturday, as we look to return to winning ways against Swindon Supermarine at the Imagine Cruising Stadium.
Following a disappointing afternoon last Saturday, which saw our five month home unbeaten run ended by Falmouth Town, the Acorns will be hoping for a win in our chase for the play-offs.
Ahead of our trip to Swindon, here is everything you need to know about our opposition.
THE OPPOSITION – SWINDON SUPERMARINE
STADIUM – The Imagine Cruising Stadium
NICKNAME – The Spitfires
FOUNDED – 1922
MANAGER – Bobby Wilkinson
LEAGUE POSITION – 12th
LAST FIVE – D-D-D-W-D
LAST TIME OUT
The Acorns had to produce a second half comeback to earn all three points when we previously faced the Spitfires, back in November.
An early Raphael Oppong goal had the Spitfires ahead at the break but a Noah Coates strike from close range and a distanced effort from Nathan Jenkins secured a 2-1 victory, at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium.
WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE?
The Spitfires have picked up some much needed form in recent weeks, as they sit six games unbeaten heading into Saturday’s clash.
It has only seen Supermarine pick up two wins in that time, against Willand Rovers and Shaftesbury AFC, all around four draws.
Two of those recent draws have seen late heartbreak for the Spitfires with both Melksham Town and Bristol Manor Farm bagging 94th and 95th minute equalisers, respectively.
PLAYER TO WATCH – PIOTR PETRYNSKI
Supermarine have a wealth of experience, quality and fire power in their ranks but have also turned to some youthfulness in young left back, Piotr Petrynski.
The 19-year-old departed Forest Green Rovers youth set-up last summer, having made four National League appearances.
The defender has become more of a regular starter for the Spitfires as of late and has even started to pop up with some goals, with his last coming in late 1-1 draw against Melksham.
