October was a month of historic fixtures, long trips away and being put to the sword in a difficult month for Hartpury FC
The Acorns featured in six games across October across the Southern League Div One South and the FA Trophy.
But in a demanding month, the Acorns managed a single win in between a very proud draw and some narrow, heartbreaking defeats.
As a result of this, the Acorns sit 10th in the Southern League Div One South after 12 games on 16 points.
Let’s now take a look back at the month of October.
THE NUMBERS
Games: 6 | Win: 1 | Draw: 1 | Lose: 4 | Points: 3/15 | Scored: 8 | Conceded: 11 | Clean Sheets: 2
BEGINNING IN BATH
The Acorns began the month with a short away trip to Larkhall Athletic where, after going 1-0 behind, Drew Robinson picked up his first goal of the season to level the game.
But goals either side of the half saw Larkhall take all three points and inflict the Acorns four defeat of the season.
TAKING ON THE TIGERS
In the Acorns debut campaign in the FA Trophy, we reached the third qualifying round which set up a tasty, local game with Gloucester City.
Over 90 minutes the Acorns went toe-to-toe with the Southern League Premier South high flyers, holding the Tigers to a 0-0 draw, taking the game to penalties.
The shootout was again tightly contested but it was the Tigers who came out on top, advancing to the next round.
THREE POINTS MILES FROM HOME
The Acorns only victory in October came on a 450-mile round trip to Mousehole where the Acorns put on a fantastic display.
Robinson’s second goal of season got the ball rolling before Billy Osborn added a second after half time.
But the highlight of the day was debutant and academy player, Ethan Vaughan securing all three points with a composed finished, sending the Acorns home very happy.
That day was huge for Hartpury’s academy programme as three current player in that system featured in the game, all making their Southern League debuts,
DIFFICULT END
It was a difficult end to the month as the Acorns suffered three straight defeats for the first time in the clubs history.
Home defeats to Portishead Town and Exmouth Town started the run before a heartbreaking 97th minute 3-2 defeat to Willand Rovers extended the unwanted run.
But October has now past and a new month awaits starting with our home clash with Brixham AFC on Saturday.
