Commercial Yard

Our commercial yard enables students to gain a wealth of practical and work experience in all aspects of horse care and management. Depending on their course, students will be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties. It features stabling for 230 horses, including 150 boxes for student livery. Facilities also include two horse walkers, four indoor schools, three outdoor schools, limited turnout and a non-slip trot-up.

We also run a Grooms Academy, aimed at keen, hardworking students who want to develop their skills with a view to becoming a professional groom.

Loaning to Hartpury

You are able to loan your horse to Hartpury University and Hartpury College during the term for all educational and teaching purposes, and have your horse cared for in return.

Horses are taken on a loan basis, subject to suitability. This service allows owners to have their horse on the yard for use by Hartpury during the term for all educational and teaching purposes. This is generally between two/ three hours per day. By prior arrangement, the owner is able to ride their own horse when not being used for teaching purposes – this is usually at weekends and owners are welcome to use the Hartpury Equine facilities during this time.

The college will look after the horse during term time, providing all feed and bedding and will keep the horse on a livery basis in receipt of a £100 deposit. The expenses to be met by the owner are worming, tack repairs, remedial farriery and any veterinary fees.
