I have been working in Animal Welfare in Higher Education since 2008 after completing my PhD in Physiology, following an MRes Biological Sciences and a BSc (Hons) Zoology. I joined Hartpury as Head of the Animal and Agriculture department in 2020 and have played an active role in updating the programmes we have on offer as well as externally acting as a panel member for the recent review of the QAA's Subject Benchmark Statements for Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences.
My own interests surround the physiological impacts of animal welfare challenges and I have a particular focus on animal nutrition. Over the years I have worked closely with many industry partners and professional bodies across the animal sector and believe these connections to be key to how we carry out research with real meaning and make a difference to the lives of animals in our care.
