Gareth Knox

Career Overview

I joined Hartpury in 2011, and currently hold the position of Associate Head of Department (Applied Sports Science and Commercial), overseeing staff within the area of applied sports science. Having completed a PhD in 2012, my research interests surround paediatric health and exercise, focussing on the design and implementation of school based interventions to promote physical activity behaviour. My previous research has focussed on the effects of school based interventions on cardiometabolic risk, identifying predictors of cardiovascular risk in children and adolescence including identification of aerobic fitness thresholds. In my current role, I have responsibility for the commercial use of the new sports science laboratories on campus linking with external organisations, schools and individuals to offer sports science testing support.
