Hartpury University and College become Corporate Partners with IEMA

Hartpury University and Hartpury College have become Corporate Partners with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), joining a growing number of organisations committed to building and developing a workforce that has the skills and knowledge to drive transformational change.

IEMA plays a central role in the sustainability agenda, connecting businesses and individuals across industries and borders. They also influence public policy on environmental and sustainability matters, drawing on insights and experience from their members to shape government policies, legislation, regulations, and standards. For education institutions, IEMA will support Hartpury in the process of accrediting several degrees, ensuring students gain real-world skills that employers are looking for and graduate with the GradIEMA suffix.

Sustainability is a key focus for Hartpury University and Hartpury College. Earlier this year, the Hartpury 2030 Strategy prioritised sustainability as one of its three underpinning themes. The institution is committed to aligning with relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and embedding sustainability throughout its teaching, research, governance, facilities, and day-to-day operations. A net zero strategy is under development adopting circular principles and ensuring financial sustainability.

Jackie Jobes, Sustainability Director at Hartpury University and College, said: “Our corporate partnership with IEMA strengthens our commitment to reducing our environmental impact, increasing the awareness and expertise of our academic and professional staff, whilst enabling our students to develop the essential green skills and knowledge that industry is seeking through our education programmes. This partnership signifies Hartpury’s dedication to fostering a greener world and pursuing a better society for all.”

Martin Baxter, Deputy CEO at IEMA, said: “The higher education sector has a vital part to play in transforming the world to sustainability, through delivering courses that equip the future workforce with the green skills and knowledge needed across multiple industries for a sustainable future.

“Joining IEMA as a Corporate Partner is a strong next step in Hartpury University and Hartpury College’s sustainability journey, and we look forward to working with them to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation, increase the awareness of staff, and deliver courses for students that emphasise green skills.”
