University lecturer Helen Tedds to lead seminar in influential animal welfare series

Hartpury University is proud to announce that Dr. Helen Tedds (Lecturer in Animal Welfare), will lead a key online seminar in the upcoming Universities Federation for the Animal Welfare (UFAW) and Animal Welfare Research Network (AWRN) Seminar Series, Influencing for Impact – Translating Animal Welfare Research into Law & Policy.

This prestigious series aims to bridge the gap between animal welfare research and its real-world application in law and policy, ensuring that scientific findings lead to meaningful improvements in animal welfare.

Dr. Tedds will deliver her seminar, ‘How to keep up to date on animal welfare policy and legislation’, on 29 May 2025. Her expertise will provide participants with practical tools to stay informed about the ever-evolving landscape of animal welfare policy and legislation, a critical skill for researchers and practitioners aiming to influence change.

The seminar series, featuring prominent speakers including Rt. Hon. George Eustice (former Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and Mike Radford OBE (University of Aberdeen), offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain insights into the UK’s legal and regulatory framework for animals. The series will run online from 1--2.30pm on irregular Thursdays from May to July 2025, with sessions designed to foster discussions and collaboration between scientists, policymakers, and campaigners.

“Staying informed about animal welfare policy and legislation is essential for driving meaningful change. I’m excited to share practical insights in this seminar to help researchers and practitioners make a real impact,” said Dr. Tedds.
