New MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition unveiled for 2026 entry

Hartpury University has announced an exciting new opportunity for aspiring sport and exercise nutritionists with the launch of its MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition programme, starting in September 2026. This dynamic and industry-focused course offers students the chance to gain the specialist skills, professional accreditation, and hands-on experience needed to succeed in this fast-growing field.

Delivered on Hartpury’s professional sports campus, the course will provide at least 100 hours of placement experience, ensuring graduates are equipped with the practical expertise to stand out to employers. Students will work alongside Hartpury’s Sports Academy teams and, through extensive external partnerships, gain real-world experience with a variety of athletes, sports teams, and health-focused organisations.

Hartpury’s industry-active and qualified teaching team, which offers a diverse sporting and clinical expertise, will prepare students for a range of career pathways. As well as a variety of sports nutrition roles, transferable skills can be applied to other industries, or even further postgraduate research.

Hartpury’s strong industry connections and focus on employability mean many students secure roles with their placement employers before they even finish the programme. The university is also currently in the process of securing accreditation from the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR), enabling graduates to meet professional recognition standards.

“This qualification has been designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice from day one,” explains James Stanbury, Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Hartpury University. “With access to our specialist nutrition kitchen, cutting-edge performance labs, and extensive placement opportunities, students will graduate with the confidence, skills, and professional networks needed to excel in this competitive industry.”

The course’s core modules cover essential areas such as sport and exercise nutrition, practical nutrition skills, exercise metabolism, contemporary topics, professional practice, and research methods. Students will also benefit from additional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, including the Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification and the UKAD Clean Sport Advisor course. Guest lectures from industry professionals will bring additional unique perspectives and insight.
