Hartpury University and College is inviting applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to join its Boards of Governors and support its continued success as an outstanding specialist education provider.
Named Specialist University of the Year 2026 by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, Hartpury is recognised for its exceptional teaching, world-class facilities and student success across specialist areas including animal, equine, sport, business and agriculture. Hartpury College is also rated Ofsted Outstanding across all academic and curriculum provision.
With a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, Hartpury welcomes applications from individuals with diverse experiences and perspectives, including those from local communities, business and industry, and beyond. No previous governor experience is required; appointments are based on individual skills, experience and potential, including aspirations for future leadership roles on the Board.
The Board of Governors sets Hartpury’s vision, values and strategic direction, holding the Chief Executive Officer to account and ensuring the institution continues to deliver high-quality education and positive outcomes for learners, staff and the industries it serves.
The role of governor is voluntary and unpaid, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed. It offers a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing leadership skills within a supportive, collaborative and appropriately challenging board environment.
Edward Keene, Chair of Governors, said: “We’re excited to welcome new governors from all walks of life to help shape the future of our unique institution. If you’re passionate about education, transforming lives and making a positive difference, we’d really like to hear from you.”
A special open evening will be held on 11 February, offering the opportunity to meet the team, speak with current governors and learn more about the role.
