Entry requirements

High School Year 3 with grades of 80% and above

Successful completion of the Chinese Senior High School Graduation Certificate with an average grade of 75% or above and completion of the core Aptitude Scholastic Test (AST) in Maths and English with a grade of 180 or above in each. For courses with a science pre-requisite, AST Biology with a grade of 180 or above is also required.

Successful completion of first year of Chinese university degree.

Three year diploma or higher national diploma

Bachelors degree (four years or six years from recognised institution in China, with grades of 75% or above

English Language requirements

To study at Hartpury you must demonstrate that your English language ability meets the requirements for university-level study. We accept a number of Secure English Language Tests (SELT) for entry onto our degree courses, with IELTS being the most common.

Regional Scholarships

We are offering £1,000 scholarships to Chinese undergraduate and postgraduate applicants joining Hartpury University in September 2026.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, the scholarship will be awarded automatically once your application has been approved.

The award will be applied as a tuition fee discount against your first year of study. To retain the scholarship in subsequent years, you will be required to maintain a minimum overall grade average of 60% (upper second-class).

Hi, I’m Hannah. I knew I wanted to study equine science as soon as I found out I could!

I chose Hartpury without stepping foot on campus. The choice was easy for me as Hartpury had everything I could ever dream of, from the facilities to the class sizes.

The fact that Hartpury is on the smaller side gave me confidence that I wouldn’t be a number to the lecturers. I knew that I’d get a world-class education alongside practical experience.

I wholeheartedly believe that deciding to study abroad was the best choice I could have made for myself personally, academically, and professionally. While it has been hard being away from family, I have built a little family for myself here… and I FaceTime my mum constantly (sorry mum)!
