Hartpury University can support eligible US students who wish to use Veteran Affairs (VA) / GI Bill education benefits as part of their funding arrangements.

Hartpury University can support eligible US students who wish to use Veteran Affairs (VA) / GI Bill education benefits as part of their funding arrangements. 

If you are planning to use VA / GI Bill benefits at Hartpury University, you should:

  • Hold an offer to study at Hartpury University, and
  • Notify our team no later than 31 May

This helps ensure there is enough time to support the process before you arrive in the UK.

Eligibility depends on your individual circumstances and the type of VA benefit you hold. If you believe you may be eligible, we recommend confirming this directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs:

Yes. Before the VA can release funding to Hartpury University:

  • Your enrolment must be confirmed, and
  • Your degree programme must be approved for VA / GI Bill benefits

Where needed, Hartpury can support the course approval process, however approval timeframes can vary and may take up to three months.

VA / GI Bill funding depends on your benefit type and personal eligibility. However, maximum rates apply to students studying at foreign institutions. 

At present, the VA applies a cap for overseas institutions. For eligible students studying at a foreign university, the VA may pay net tuition and mandatory fees up to $29,920.95 per academic year.

Housing support is based on a national average for foreign institutions. For students using benefits on or after 1 January 2018, the maximum Monthly Housing Allowance payable at a foreign institution is $2,338 per month.

Where applicable, tuition fee payments are normally sent directly to Hartpury University and applied to your student account.

If a balance remains after tuition fees have been applied, we will arrange for the remaining credit to be refunded to you.
