Why Hartpury?

“I was drawn to Hartpury because at the time I did not see myself in a large city university and the animal facilities stood out from other places. The ability to access a foundation course for Bioveterinary science was a huge contributor. Coming from a non-academic background, I was unsure how I would adjust to university and the foundation year seemed like the perfect opportunity to introduce myself into studying.”

Hartpury Experience

“The foundation year gave me the opportunity to interact and communicate with a wide range of individuals from different courses. It gave me the tools to be organised, understand what was expected within exams and assignments, give me the base knowledge for the further modules and make me excited to be learning. I particularly enjoyed the Reviewing Literature module, which I really think set the course for the rest of my degree.

Throughout my time at Hartpury, the lecturers have been so friendly, supportive, and encouraging of my progress and future endeavours. I have felt incredibly supported throughout and received support beyond what would be expected.

As part of my degree, we had the opportunity to work within the animal collection, which was a great way to understand the concepts learned in practice and to interact with a variety of species.

If you are interested in pursuing a degree but have doubts about skills or abilities, particularly if you come from a non-academic background, the foundation year will give you the tools to succeed and allow you to prepare for the more challenging modules. You deserve to explore, study and experience the things you love, and the foundation year did just that for me.”
