Daniel studied BSc (Hons) Equine Business Management at Hartpury and is a para-dressage athlete with cerebral palsy. His goal is to compete at the European and World Championships, as well as the Olympics.
"Being at Hartpury gives me a lot of flexibility to combine my riding and get the support I need with my degree. The Achievement and Success Centre, in particular, has given me a lot of help. It’s meant I’ve done well academically. Getting a degree has been really rewarding.
If what you want to do is work with horses, then work with horses. You shouldn’t let your disability stop you from doing that. Being at Hartpury has made me a better and stronger person – it’s shown me that I’m much more capable than I thought I was.
You really feel like you’re part of a family here – it’s not just a place to get a degree, it’s also a great community. It makes being here feel worth it.
There are so many opportunities at Hartpury – from major equine events to guest speakers and work experience on site. I worked in the Equine Therapy Centre in my first year. The more you get involved, the more you benefit. You wouldn’t get the same level of access to facilities like this anywhere else."
