Jonathan Robinson

Jonathon studied BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and is now a performance analyst at Liverpool Football Club. He is responsible for monitoring and recording the performances of the Academy players in fixtures and training sessions. 

"I’ve always wanted to be involved in football and that was the driving force behind my decision to come to Hartpury University. The sports facilities are second to none and the quality of teaching is also extremely high. My Sports Coaching degree course gave me a real depth of knowledge, from statistical analysis to the different principles of coaching and how to adapt your techniques to get the best out of your group.

There were so many opportunities to apply what I was learning in real life situations and the football programme allowed me to practice my coaching techniques and methods, which is something I will always be grateful for. It’s a case of showing you are willing to work hard academically and use your free time to get involved and put into practice what you have learned."

I was able to secure a position at Bristol Rovers as a performance analyst while I was still studying at Hartpury University and acting as assistant coach of the junior elite football programme. This gave me the relevant experience I needed to stand out from the rest when I graduated. For me to be able to say that I’ve been able to coach international players and players that have been sold for millions of pounds is only a benefit to me."
